The Flaming Heart won the inaugural Finzi International Composing Competition 2023, beating entries from 15 countries. Inspired by Finzi’s Lo, The Full Final Sacrifice, it is a setting of words by Richard Crashaw and St Teresa of Ávila. The piece is about the human heart and the intense passions that often exist unnoticed in the outward self. The piece was first performed by The Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge in 2024.
